After careful consideration, Team Prodigies has decided to create a website proposal and a multimedia video to display our content. According to Karppinen, the use of videos can be "used in a pedagogically meaningful way in teaching" to engage the learner (Kaprppinen, 2005, p. 246). The use of video will help us reach a larger audience and give the user the option to pause or replay if needed. We must keep in mind that future graduate students have a job and will appreciate the flexibility of the video.
According to Pappas, adult learners will have more than one thing on their mind and "don't see the rewards of their
efforts as soon as they would expect" (Pappas, 2005). With this in mind,, we must motivate using some of the "17 Tips to Motivate Adult Learners" listed below (Pappas, 2005):
Present the benefits of undertaking the course
Lay out the goal early so the audience knows what they are watching and what are the benefits.
Create useful and relevant learning experiences based on the age group and interests of your learners
Understanding our audience will be crucial in making a successful information video
Chunk information
Break it down by section. Do not overload the viewer with too much information at once.
Make it visually-compelling
Provide graphs/charts/pictures of our topic to keep the viewer engaged
A voice behind the video is not enough
Adding our personal touch will be crucial. We want the viewer to feel engaged and understand that we are available to answer any questions if necessary.
