Queue and Preshow

Head into the Great Movie Flight movie-making wonderland with the newly rethemed building looking like a Hollywood sound stage. The building is painted cream with red accents along parts of the wall to slightly resemble Roger Rabbit. This new entrance is located at the very beginning of the queue where the tall AT-AT stood. With a large garage door open, guests can enter the world of movies in this film bonanza queue.

With the area of the ride being so large, it allows for an abundance of films to be highlighted in the queue. There are plenty of films in this queue that showcase the magic of some of the most iconic films in history by having museum-esque displays inside the queues. With more room being occupied, there is a need for space. Therefore, the backstage area between Backlot Express and the show building will be removed.

These scene replicas feature some of the most iconic shots and props from film history. Each display is surrounded by glass cases installed into the walls that feature props from the film. The sets include:

  • Die Hard

    • The scene replicated in the queue is the iconic match-lighting scene where John McClane lights the match in the vent.

  • Home Alone

    • The scene replicated in the queue is the scene where Harry and Marv work in front of the staircase as they fall into the traps in the McCallister house. At the top of the staircase, Kevin is watching this scheme happen.

  • Mrs. Doubtfire

    • The scene replicated in the queue is when Daniel is in his Mrs. Doubtfire outfit and sticks his face into the cake to keep his true identity a secret.

  • Titanic

    • The scene replicated in the queue is when Rose and Jack are on the tip of the Titanic in their iconic pose from the peak moment of the film.

  • Cast Away

    • The scene replicated in the queue is when Chuck makes his gigantic fire for the first time.

  • Avatar

    • The scene replicated in the queue is when Jake and Neytiri link their neural queues in the Tree of Souls to create a strong, emotional, and lifelong bond.

  • Ice Age

    • The scene replicated in the queue is when Diego, Manny, Sid, and the baby enter a cave with paintings inside revealing the life and history of Manny’s past.

  • Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

    • The scene replicated in the queue is when the kids are riding Antie through the grass just before the Scorpion fight.

All of the scenes are inspired by museum displays. None of them are audio-animatronics.

  • After the queue ends, guests can view the pre-show right before boarding. The pre-show/boarding room is themed to a storage room where all the misfits characters hang out. The misfit characters appear on the screen and tell guests about the amazing new technologies of this movie-viewing experience. This fun, meta pre-show pokes fun at many different film genres and films that have been historic in filmmaking. Once the misfit characters end their speech, guests enter a whole new world guided by a misfit character.
