The Great Movie Flight

Disney's Hollywood Studios went through several changes over the past few years. Firstly, its name, but secondly and more broadly, its themes, stripping away the 'working' studio format and branching out into lands such as Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Two of the most famous attractions of the old MGM Studios were the Studios Backlot Tour and The Great Movie Ride. In the present day Hollywood Studios, there is one section of the park, Echo Lake, that continues to carry on the tradition of the old MGM-Studios, serving as a Stunt Show, a Backlot Express dining experience, as well as Star Tours. With the opening of Galaxy's Edge though, WDI felt Star Tours could use a refurbishment. But rather than place a singular IP in the area, Disney thought it would be savvy to combine two of the classic attractions of the golden age of MGM-Studios - into one attraction, using the Star Tours simulator technology. Thus - The Great Movie Flight was born.

This attraction combines the best of The Great Movie Ride and the Backlot Tour - getting a look at some of the most famous films of the 20th and 21st century while also getting a peek behind the curtain at how the films are made and the soundstages they use.
