About me

My name is Nai-Ho CHEUNG. I have been teaching physics at Hong Kong Baptist University since the early eighties. I was a physics major at the University of Chicago in the seventies and did my PhD in applied physics at Cornell. I am an experimentalist. My research area is laser spectroscopy with applications in material analysis and biophysical characterization.

The courses that I have taught ranged from introductory physics through graduate level spectroscopy. I was nominated best lecturer by students and by the school more than once.

I learned, the hard way, about conducting high-impact research while doing justice to teaching. I often find myself dissatisfied with an answer to a homework problem but have to post the solution in the next hour. Such stressful experience usually occurs when I teach a course the first time. Still, I must admit, teaching physics is gratifying. Explaining the mystery of quantum mechanics to wide-eyed students is such joy.
