This theory is mainly used for language. Learners learning results from positive reinforcement; if a child says or does something correct, they are rewarded, however unwanted behaviour is punished. Therefore, this encourages the learners to make an effort and to experiment. Imitation and repetition is used as a guide for the students.
The principle of this theory is based upon human behaviour, learners learn by with what is around them and the importance of; therefore, if their peer receives an award for doing something right, then they will work towards the same thing.
Behaviourist theory focuses on language, as a teacher you need to use imitation, reinforcement, and rewarding, to ensure optimal learning within this theory.
Behaviourism creates the building blocks of an exercise and assignment. This is because of constant imitation, reinforcement and rewarding. The more positive feedback and comments given to the students, the more they will want to learn and develop within the language.
