Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy centres on fostering an engaging and inclusive environment where students actively participate in their own learning. 

This philosophy has evolved significantly from when I first started. Initially, I adhered to traditional lecture-based methods, relying on inherited lecture slides and assuming it was the standard approach to teaching without exploring alternatives. Through my journey in education, I have had the privilege of participating in pedagogy courses, forums, and projects. These experiences introduced me to educators who were passionate about exploring innovative teaching methods. They not only inspired me but also equipped me with the expertise to critically evaluate the effectiveness of different approaches in various educational contexts.

Another central aspect to my teaching philosophy is inclusivity. I acknowledge that students come with varied learning styles, backgrounds, and needs. Rather than viewing these differences as obstacles, I embrace them by adapting my teaching strategies. I aim to design assignments and classroom practices that cater to these diverse needs, trying my best to ensure that every student can engage meaningfully with the material.

Everyone learns in different way but if the desire to engage with the material is not there, then it’s very difficult for anyone to learn at all. 

Therefore, I place a hefty importance on student engagement in my teaching philosophy. I thrive in designing creative ways for the students to engage with educational concepts. Whether through interactive models, gamification, or collaborative projects, my goal is to cultivate a learning atmosphere that ignites curiosity and promotes active participation. I also leverage instructional videos and certification incentives to motivate students, enhancing their engagement and enthusiasm for learning.

Collaboration and student empowerment are also fundamental principles in my teaching philosophy. I believe in giving students the autonomy to explore and take ownership of their learning journeys. By facilitating teamwork and offering diverse paths for project exploration, I cultivate a sense of responsibility and initiative among students. As a guide rather than a lecturer, I encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are essential for lifelong learning.

Ultimately, my goal as an educator is not just to impart knowledge but to inspire a passion for learning.
