MyLO non-award units are used to communicate important information and engage students across cohorts and beyond the formal structure of MyLO award units. Often our compliance and professional development units are the first introduction to MyLO for staff, and for professional staff may be their only experience of MyLO. These units contribute to the success of both our students and staff, and it is essential to ensure they are easy to navigate and participate in.
D2L introduced their New Content experience for staff and students in 2021 and have been progressively releasing new features. The New Content experience is not yet at feature parity with the Classic experience, and we do not recommend it for use with award units. There is, however, an opportunity to use the New Content experience in conjunction with our D2L templates in non-award units. We believe this will facilitate an improved navigational experience for our learners in these important units: whilst still enabling content to be presented in a familiar format.
The New Content experience is now available at the University of Tasmania. Curious as to what the difference is? Our Lightning presentation provides an overview of what the New Content experience looks like from both staff and student perspectives, and what to consider when changing from the Classic experience.
