I was accepted as an English Teaching Assistant through Spain's North American Language and Cultural Assistants program a year after the racial justice protests of 2020. I wanted to go beyond the standard presentations of American holidays and discuss social issues with my students, even at an elementary level of English.
I was aware that other Language Assistants were interested in these subjects but did not have the time to put these resources together. I decided to create this toolkit and disseminate it among Language Assistants so that more people would have these resources available to teach about complex subjects, even at a basic English level.
