Teaching Students with Learning Difficulties

This short course is delivered in the following modules:

Module 1: Understanding Learning Difficulties

Objectives:

1. Define learning difficulties and differentiate them from other learning challenges.

2. Identify common types of learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD.

3. Understand the neurological and cognitive factors that contribute to learning difficulties.

4. Explore the impact of learning difficulties on students' academic performance and self-esteem.

5. Recognize the importance of early intervention and support for students with learning difficulties.

Module 2: Strategies for Teaching Students with Learning Difficulties

Objectives:

1. Familiarize with evidence-based instructional strategies tailored to address various learning difficulties.

2. Learn how to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with learning difficulties.

3. Explore differentiating instruction techniques to meet the diverse needs of learners.

4. Understand the role of assistive technology and accommodations in supporting students with learning difficulties.

5. Develop effective communication strategies to collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals in supporting students with learning difficulties.

6. Reflect on personal teaching practices and adapt them to better meet the needs of students with learning difficulties.
