Hello! I'm Patricia Guimarães, a Brazilian raised in New York City, and an English teacher specialized in helping enthusiastic learners achieve their language learning goals.
With over 12 years of experience teaching English to adults and young learners, I offer personalized lessons that cater to your needs and interests, whether you want to brush up on your speaking skills or need to pass a proficiency exam. My dynamic and communication-focused classes ensure you gain the confidence to speak, understand, read, and write in English.
I hold a degree in Languages, a postgraduate degree in Teaching English as a Second Language as well as a CELTA certificate. I firmly believe that knowing a language is not enough; as educators, we must possess the insight to understand learners' needs and be equipped with the tools to guide them through their language acquisition journey. Over the past 12 years, I have dedicated myself to teaching English, with a particular passion for helping intermediate learners break through the plateau and advance their skills.
I strongly believe that language learning should be a deeply meaningful experience, one that is uniquely tailored to each learner’s individual needs, goals, and personal aspirations. Equally important is fostering a sense of autonomy, where learners are encouraged to take ownership of their progress, rather than simply being passive observers in the learning process.
