Gregory Eddie grew up in Baltimore. For the first 20 years of his life, he spent every summer vacation "planting, mowing and raking" at his grandfather's landscaping business, Eddie Lawn & Care. His father is Martin Eddie. That resulted in Greg not being able to stand gardening at all.[2]
In Pilot, Gregory arrived at Abbott Elementary as a substitute teacher to replace Tina Schwartz, who was fired for "punting a student." He had initially applied to be the school's principal and thought he got the job but "something happened," although it was revealed that Ava had blackmailed the superintendent to get the job instead.
