Call for Proposals

Call for Proposals: Teacher Journeys 2019

Saturday, June 29

TD SIG and NanKyu JALT are accepting presentation proposals for our upcoming EFL Teacher Journeys conference. This mini-conference is intended to spark new conversations around the broad theme of EFL Teacher Journeys. This goal is meant to encourage papers which explore teacher journeys, either the presenter’s own, those of students or classes, or other teachers.

Presentations should focus on one or more of the following:

The development of EFL teaching skills and/or expertise

    • How did the topic you’re presenting about help you improve your teaching ability?

EFL teacher career journeys in Japan (and/or elsewhere)

    • How did your journey as a teacher influence your teaching?

Reflective practice

    • How did your research help you reflect on what you have been doing in the classroom, and how has it helped change your classroom practice?

Teacher identity

    • How has your identity as a teacher, or the identities of teachers whose lives you’ve researched, changed?

Narratives of teacher development and change

    • What kind of story can be told of yourself, your research, and your teaching - or of others and their teaching?

Presentation slots are 45 minutes (including discretionary time for Q&A). All rooms are equipped with projectors and screens for those presenters who wish to present visual materials. Workshops, discussions, and other less traditional modes of presentation that encourage audience participation are also encouraged.

Please submit your abstract on the conference site’s registration page. Abstracts should be under 300 words.

The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, April 30, 2019.
