What is Fusion Energy

To put it simply Fusion Energy represents the next big step in fighting climate change. Often deemed as the golden energy source Fusion energy does not produce any toxic gasses or waste through its production. At first glance you may think this energy source is Sci Fi but the process in which Fusion energy is created is what occurs in the center of the Sun for it to keep emitting light. Fusion energy is process in which element heated at extreme temperatures (Similar temperature to the core of the sun) are fused together releasing massive amount of energy outwards.

Fusion VS Fission

Often mixed up with fission energy, Fusion is way more clean and safe. If a nuclear fission plant were to have a malfunction it could potentially release radioactive substance in the air or result in a nuclear blast. If a fission plant were to malfunction nothing would occur because of it fundamental difference in fusing elements together rather than breaking them apart. Fusion energy also does not produce toxic waste unlike fission, where this waste must decompose underground for millennia.

Fusion Today

Unfortunately, we human have not yet been able to understand how to fuse elements together in an energy efficient manner. Previous attempts require more energy to fuse elements than the energy it produces. However, many nations have come together to attempt to crack the fusion code. Currently, their is an attempt to build a fusion power plant in the south of France, so fusion energy maybe on the way.
