The Next Big Leap

We live in the era of Information, where the level of technological advancements grow at exponential rates. However, the next big leap in technology is Artificial Intelligence. The only difference between computers and humans is our intuition. Artificial intelligence takes us closer to creating smarter and precise robots.

How is it done?

The most common way of building artificial intelligence is through Neural Networks. A Neural Network is chain of nodes that judge each input through a series of filters, ending up with a single rating. Sounds complicated, but it is most similar to brains. Similar to the way our brain send electrons through our neurons each input whether it is a text, music or image is filtered and get a rating on how similar it is to a certain object. For example if the AI software is trying to determine whether something is a bike or a car each input would get a rating for how similar it is to a bike and a car. Finally the answer is revealed to be one of the two. In theory millions of these filters would be generated and the most accurate of these filters would be cloned and random tweaks would be applied. The more training data used to on the network improves the network. Special neural networks can generate images or text. Check out the website This Person Does Not Exist. This is a great example of how neural network can build the creativity only humans posses. In the near future it may be indistinguishable to tell work of an AI from a Human.
