Tulare County Young Democrats is committed to building an active coalition of active Democrats, educating and establishing new leaders, and changing the perception of Democrats in the Central Valley.
In November 2018, six young people began the process of founding a chapter of the California Young Democrats. After working for months with the Andrew Janz 2018 Congressional Campaign, we felt that our home was under served by the politics happening at the state level. This county is tossed aside alongside the rest of the Central Valley to fend for itself and someone needs to stand up and help it. That's where we come in. As Young Democrats, we work hard to impart leadership skills into youth so that we may create a sense of community and we hope to ultimately pioneer what being a Valley Democrat means. We hope you'll join us soon.
In short, lots! We offer opportunities to volunteer, seminars and workshops to build leadership skills, and we work to outreach and make our presence known. We channel hard work and dedication towards creating an aptitude for networking, taking initiative, and professionalism. TCYD also serves as an entry level, hands-on experience regarding politics by providing opportunities for internships, canvassing, and phonebanking. We're not all business though. The leadership at TCYD works to make membership fun. We hold mixers, movie nights, and other fun social events to break up the tension of the work we do here. TCYD is also a safe space for people of all identities and backgrounds and we promote an idea of tolerance and acceptance for anyone and everyone who walks through our doors.
