At one time, I really wanted to be a portrait artist, and I dedicated considerable energy to that end. However, life pulled me in other directions. Nevertheless, between animation and illustration gigs, somehow I managed to get in a fair amount of portrait practice. For portraits, I work in a variety of media: charcoal, conte, pastel, oils, acrylics - anything so long as it is different from the media/techniques I use for animation work (at the end of every animation production crunch, I was hungry to do something different - to break out of the style and technique we get locked into when working on a production for an extended length of time).
