This Privacy Policy governs the data processing practices of TCG Card Scanner - Card Game ("App," "Company," "we," "us," or "our"). It explains how and why we collect, store, use, and share your information when you use the application. Please carefully read this policy to understand your rights and choices regarding your privacy. If you do not agree with our practices, please refrain from using our Services. If you have any concerns or inquiries, please reach out to us at support@tcgcardscanner.app.
We've summarized the key points of our privacy practices for your convenience:
No Account Required: TCG Card Scanner & Collector does not require you to create an account or log in. We do not require your name, email address, phone number, or account credentials to use the App.
Card Photos: When you use the scan feature, you may provide a photo of a physical trading card by taking a picture with your camera or selecting an image from your device's gallery.
Third-Party AI Processing: To identify, recognize, and analyze trading cards (including card quality/grading estimation), the image you submit is transmitted to a third-party AI service (Ximilar Computer Vision API). This processing is necessary to generate card identification and grading results.
Local Storage: Your scanned card images, scan history, deck lists, collection data, and related organization data are stored locally on your device using the App's local database. We do not maintain your scan history or scanned images on our own servers.
Analytics: The App may use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to collect aggregated usage, device, performance, and diagnostic information to help us understand how the App is used and improve its reliability.
Subscriptions: Premium (VIP) subscriptions are processed through Google Play Billing or Apple StoreKit. We do not collect or store your credit card number or other raw payment information.
Your Privacy Rights: Depending on your location (e.g., EU, UK, Canada, California), you may have rights regarding your personal information, including rights to access, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing.
TCG Card Scanner does not require account registration or login.
When you use certain features of the App, you may voluntarily provide the following information:
Photos for Identification: When using the card scanning or grading features, you provide images of the card's front and back (captured via camera or selected from your photo library) for identification and grading purposes; for standard card scanning, only the front of the card is required.
We do not require and do not collect: your name, email address, phone number, or any account registration information, as the App does not require login or account creation.
Camera Access: We require camera permission solely to capture photos of physical trading cards for real-time card recognition, AI identification, and PSA card quality grading. Card photos are processed either on-device or transmitted securely to our recognition backend over encrypted TLS channels. We do not use your camera for facial recognition or any biometric analysis.
Photo Library / Storage Access: Permission to access your photo gallery is required only when you choose to import an existing card image from your device storage for scanning or identification.
Usage Statistics and Analytics: Crash logs, app launch counts, feature engagement metrics (e.g., number of scans performed, decks created), and session duration to help us fix crashes and improve app performance.
In-App Purchase & Subscription Data: Purchase receipts, transaction IDs, product identifiers, active subscription statuses, and purchase timestamps provided by Google Play Billing or Apple StoreKit. We never collect, process, or store your credit card numbers, banking details, or billing addresses—all payment transactions are handled directly and securely by Google Play or Apple App Store.
We use the information we collect for the following legitimate purposes:
Provide Core App Functionality: To scan, recognize, identify, and grade trading cards (Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: The Gathering, One Piece, Lorcana, etc.), calculate market price trends, and manage your card portfolios and custom decks.
Process and Manage Subscriptions: To verify VIP / Premium subscription entitlements, unlock premium features (unlimited scans, real-time market data, advanced card quality score metrics), and facilitate subscription restoration across your devices.
App Optimization and Diagnostics: To identify and fix software bugs, reduce crash rates, optimize camera focusing algorithms, and enhance user experience.
Customer Support: To respond to your comments, questions, technical support requests, and feature suggestions.
Legal & Policy Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, prevent fraudulent activities, and enforce our Terms of Service.
We may partner with trusted third-party service providers to facilitate our services. These third parties have access to your information only to perform specific tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose:
In-App Billing & Subscriptions: Google Play Billing Service, Apple StoreKit for managing subscription states, receipts, and product catalogs.
Card Recognition & AI Computer Vision: Secure APIs (e.g., Ximilar Computer Vision API) for feature extraction and trading card matching. Uploaded card images are processed temporarily to return identification metadata and are not used to identify individuals.
Crash Reporting & Diagnostics: Firebase Crashlytics / Google Play Developer Console diagnostics to monitor app stability and resolve runtime crashes.
Local-First Architecture: Your card collection, custom decks, scan history, and user preferences are stored securely on your local device using an encrypted local SQLite/Drift database.
Data Security: We implement industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical security measures (including TLS 1.3 encryption for all network transmissions) to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.
Data Retention: We retain support communications and anonymized diagnostic data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy.
