Create a Study Schedule
Take Organized Notes. I recommend a modified Cornell note-taking style that look like the image on the left!
Read the textbook before class and write down any questions you may have.
Complete practice problems and make note of what is still unclear.
Write out step-by-step procedures for practice problems.
Revisit your notes from previous chapters or modules. Math is builds upon itself. If you do not understand concepts in chapter 1, you may not understand concepts in chapter 2.
Explain (out-loud to yourself or a classmate) the procedures for solving a problem. Take a moment to think of a real world application.
Study and re-read where you are still having trouble. Meet with a Learning Commons tutor, or ask your professor for additional support during office hours.
When you get a test or quiz back, make corrections to the questions you answered incorrectly.
