Padma Bhushan Dr.T.S.Avinashilingam
(Ayya Avargal )
He was a freedom fighter and the first Education Minister of the Madras province. He was awarded Padma Bhushan and the Jamnalal Bajaj Award.
Thiru T.S.Avinashilingam Chettiar was a stanch follower of Gandhi Ji and had participated in the freedom movement in a big way.
Ayya Avargal had a high spiritual involvement and practiced Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa’s ideals and followed Swami Vivekananda’s teachings.
Avinashilingam Institute
Dr.T.S. Avinashilingam is such a visionary and a stalwart who planted the seeds for women's education under the auspices of Avinashilingam Education Trust in 1957. Under the auspices of this Trust, this great patriot and educationist established the Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore, as an aided college in 1957, in the heart of the city.
School of Engineering
The School of Engineering, exclusively for girls, was started in the year 1996 with the approval of AICTE. The campus is spread over an area of 100 acres and is situated in Varapalayam, about 6km off Mettupalayam Road at Thudiyalur. The campus is well developed with excellent infrastructure, amenities and in-campus hostels.
DepT of printing technology
The Department of Printing Technology was formed during the inception of the Faculty of Engineering in 1996, with AICTE approval, in Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore.
