The Operations Officer is essential to keeping the organisation running smoothly behind the scenes. By supporting our systems, volunteers, and processes, you help ensure that every part of the organisation can focus on delivering our mission and safe, effective support.
Your impact includes:
1. Strengthening the volunteer experience
You help create a positive, well-supported journey for volunteers, making sure they feel informed, valued, and equipped. When volunteers are confident and supported, our services become stronger and more reliable.
2. Protecting the organisation through good governance and compliance
Your attention to detail helps us meet charity law, GDPR, safeguarding requirements, and funder expectations. This protects the organisation’s integrity and allows us to keep delivering essential services safely and legally.
3. Improving the quality of our services
By supporting policies, processes, and service operations, you help ensure people receive consistent, safe, and high-quality support. Small operational improvements can have a big ripple effect across everything we do.
4. Keeping the organisation connected and coordinated
Departments need help sharing information, applying policies, and staying aligned. You help keep everyone on the same page, reducing confusion and enabling faster, clearer decision-making.
5. Enabling the organisation to grow sustainably
Through process improvement and accurate record-keeping, you help build the foundations we need for future growth, supporting long-term stability, better planning, and stronger services.
In short:
The Operations Officer ensures the organisation is stable, compliant, connected, and able to deliver its mission.
Without strong operations, even the best services can’t function.
With you, they can.
So, you've decided you want to get started, huh? Awesome.
Generally, after onboarding, your role is self-led; however, you have the support of your manager for a smooth start and learning process. We encourage volunteers to take ownership of their role.
