PhD positions available for research on aerosols with knowledge on Python/ MATLAB/ R
We wish to investigate the role of the atmosphere in the climate dynamics. Through measurements of atmospheric trace gases and aerosols from various observational platforms, we aim to predict changes in atmospheric constituents and its repercussions on the climate system, agriculture and human health. We have experiences in satellite remote sensing of aerosols over the Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP), especially in identifying vertical distribution of aerosol, classifying aerosol types, understanding trans-boundary transport and in evaluating aerosol columnar properties with respect to surface measurements. We wish to create 3D aerosol climatology over IGP to reduce uncertainties in AOD-PM modeling.
Research interests: satellite retrieval of aerosols and trace gases; geospatial analysis; aerosol and atmospheric chemistry; air quality & climate change; environmental health.
