Hi, I'm Taylor
About Me
I am currently pursuing a Master of Music in Trombone Performance at Indiana University in Bloomington, where I continue to refine my artistry as both a performer and educator. Prior to beginning my graduate studies, I earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Central Arkansas.
Throughout my collegiate career, I have had the privilege of teaching in a variety of educational settings. My experience includes private lessons, assisting with middle and high school band programs, working with marching bands, serving at summer music camps, and completing student teaching internships at both the elementary and secondary levels. These experiences have allowed me to work with students of all ages and skill levels while developing a teaching approach centered on encouragement, musical growth, and individual success.
In addition to teaching, I have maintained an active performance career throughout Central Arkansas, the Oklahoma City area, and Indianapolis. While orchestral performance remains my primary passion, I enjoy performing a wide range of musical styles, including jazz, wind band, brass band, chamber music, and solo repertoire. As a professional trombonist, I primarily perform on tenor trombone while frequently doubling on alto trombone. I have also been hired to perform on bass trombone and euphonium, allowing me to bring versatility to a wide variety of ensembles and performance settings.
Leadership has been an important part of my musical journey. I have participated in marching bands for nearly a decade, serving as a section leader for four years before concluding my collegiate marching career as Drum Major. Beyond the classroom, I have also taught at nationally recognized summer music programs, including Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, where I served as a counselor and brass instructor for the Bernstein Camp.
Although I deeply enjoy performing and continually strive to grow as a musician, teaching has always been the heart of my career. I am passionate about helping students develop confidence, technical excellence, and a lifelong appreciation for music. Whether working with beginners or advanced musicians, my goal is to create a positive, engaging learning environment that inspires every student to reach their full potential.
