I am a Social Studies educator who believes that relationships, curiosity, and real-world connections are at the heart of great teaching. I grew up loving history because it helped me understand people and the forces that shape our world, and that same spark is what I hope to ignite in my students.
I am a family-oriented person, and being a parent has strengthened the way I approach teaching. It has shaped my patience, empathy, and commitment to creating a classroom where every student feels seen, valued, and supported. I want my students to feel the same sense of belonging and encouragement that I work hard to foster at home.
Alongside my academic work at UNK, I bring practical experience from my service in the Army National Guard and my time working with K–12 students as a substitute teacher. These experiences have shaped how I lead, communicate, and adapt to meet the needs of diverse learners.
In my teaching career, my goal is simple: to help students see Social Studies not just as a subject, but as a foundation for understanding the world and becoming thoughtful, informed citizens. I’m excited to continue growing as an educator and to build a classroom where curiosity, respect, and learning thrive.
This is my belief on teaching and what it means to me. It will be my promise to my students on what kind of teacher I will be.
