Rube Goldberg Machine

The goal was to create a section of an office themed Rube Goldberg Machine that was functional. The machine needed to successfully carry on momentum from the previous group and continue said momentum onto the final group. 

During this project, the main skills used were the application of mechanical elements and electronic components as well as the usage of the engineering design process.

Depicted above is the low-fidelity model of the machine. There were several adjustments made to this version of the machine that made for a higher success rate overall. 

 The view on the right provides insight on the general steps the machine follows. 

Those steps are:

A ball from the previous group, group F, rolls down a raised platform. This ball then deploys down the first ramp in section G, and lands on a button which is connected to a pico kit. The button acts as the input element of the kit, and activates the servo motor, which is the output. The servo arm moves, effectively knocking down the books in a domino effect. The last book in the sequence pushes the second ball through a hole onto the second ramp. The ball rolls down the second ramp and is delivered to the final group, group H. 

The picture on the left provides a good view of the setup of the pico kit as well as the placement of the remaining elements needed for the next steps of the machine.  

On the left is the top view of the final model of the machine. It depicts the Raspberry Pi Pico Kit and offers a better view of the final steps of the machine.

On the right is the side view of the final model of the machine. This view highlights the decor elements of the machine and provides better context on the overall dimension.
