I've always thought that my favorite thing about being "the" Taylor Swift is not the money, the fame, or the fact that the mere mention of my name is the first snow in a flurry of conversation that will inevitably follow. Of course, I appreciate it all, but I think what I appreciate most is my fans. The opportunity to meet all of these wonderful people from all around the world and connect with them through my music is truly something special. When I began writing songs all those years ago... I didn't know just how rewarding it would be to hear over and over that my songs, my experiences, and my stories were the hand that reached out and helped people when they were struggling; I heard that sometimes the help came through intense, almost magical relatability and other times through comfort and escape. Listening to my fans via social media is almost a trademark for me now, so I'll let my favorite cozy corner of the internet, the Swiftie one, speak for itself (and hey, there are a few pictures of my fans at meet-and-greets and concerts too- can't forget those!)
And while I'm here writing sappy things...
I can't forget the wonderful journey it's been connecting with Swifties over TikTok while I re-record my old albums. We've reconnected over the nostalgia of these works - remembering how we basically grew up together. And for the newer Swifties, here's your second chance! Getting to touch the hearts of millions of people, young and old as they either experience or reminisce about the challenges of love and life has been such a gift.
Side note: I really miss touring. My record-breaking Reputation Stadium Tour was incredible, not because of the numbers but the people. The energy from my fans was healing and I miss it so much.
If you asked me what my 'ding' in the universe would be... I would first be honored that you believe I have one at all, but everything I said earlier would come to mind first. I'm not the artist of the decade because my music is the best music ever released, or because I'm the most special person on Earth. I'm the artist of the decade because somehow, some way, all the work that I have put in culminated in this wonderful community that loves me and my art. I couldn't be more grateful.
