My parents are David and Stacie. My mother works at Community National Bank at the Retirements division in Seneca. My father works at Extru-Tech in Sabetha. I have two brothers. Their names are Cameron and Lucas. Cameron is a sophomore at Kansas State University and is majoring in mechanical engineering. Lucas is an eighth grader at Nemaha Central Middle School.
In high school, I participated in many sports and clubs. I participated in volleyball, softball, cheerleading, KAY, NHS, FCCLA, and SADD. I chose volleyball, softball, and cheerleading because I liked them ever since I was young and I continued to enjoy them. I joined KAY my freshman year because I knew they put on the Kiddie Carnival and Easter Egg Hunt, so I knew they did something with kids, which excited me because I loved being around kids. I did not realize all the other projects and activities that this club did. However, I learned more about all the projects and loved participating in them. I remained in this club all four years of high school. I applied to be on the board my senior year and was elected to be the publicity director. I have gained more self-confidence through this leadership role. I joined NHS my sophomore year. I had to complete an application and was very nervous if I would get in, I got in and expanded my scholarship, leadership, service, and character through this group. I joined FCCLA my junior year because I wanted to be more involved. I joined SADD my senior year because I do not like seeing people make decisions that are not useful. Through SADD, I get the opportunity to participate in Smalls and Talls where I go to the elementary school once every two weeks for half an hour to do activities with an elementary school student.
I plan on attending Emporia State University to major in elementary education. I plan to attend Emporia State because they are known as “The Teachers’ College.” Also, my cousin recently graduated from there with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, and I believe she is ready to start teaching and will be very successful.
My career goal is to become an elementary teacher. I want to pursue this career because I have found joy through my experiences with children. I have babysat for multiple families since seventh grade. I enjoyed this responsibility a lot and continue to enjoy it. I have volunteered with Vacation Bible School since seventh grade. I look forward to this activity every summer and seeing all the children. During high school, I took many classes to help me learn more about children. I took a class called Early Childhood Applications. During this class, I went to different daycares around town and the school preschool. I got to see different children and learn about them. I also took a class called Foundations to Early Childhood Development. In this class, I learned about the development of each age of children. I learned about their types of environment. Currently, I am a teacher aide for an Kindergarten teacher. It is a learning experience. I help them with some activities and prepare some materials. I anticipate each day I get to be with them. Also, my experience with Smalls and Talls has helped me gain more experience with children.
My favorite movies are Home Alone and The Sandlot. These movies are my favorite because I remember watching these movies ever since I was young with my family. We would watch them so much that my dad and I can make jokes about something and relate it to some quote from one of these movies.
If I won a million dollars today, I would spend most of it on a house and the rest of it on investments. I enjoy looking at house plans, and I enjoy going on home tours. On home tours, I like looking at the decorations, furniture, and observing how I can rearrange different rooms in a house. This is very fascinating to me. I can’t pick a favorite house plan because I always find a new favorite at least once a week.
