NIOS Class 10, also called as the Secondary course, offers learners the flexibility to pursue their education at their own pace. The learners can choose 5 subjects from about 32 subjects (which include languages,) and prepare and attend the exams when they like to. On completion of the course the learners get Secondary School Leaving Certificate.

The course content and curriculum for the NIOS Class 10 has been thoughtfully prepared to include those subjects and topics which enable the learner to develop knowledge and skills in areas that help them in their employment/interest.

Course and Certification

National Institute of Open Schooling is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. Therefore, the Class 10 certificate offered by NIOS is equivalent to similar certificates offered by any other recognized State or Central Board in India.

Students have to choose 5 subjects from the 32 subject options. Students can consider their plans for higher education or the use of the certification in their employment when they are choosing the subjects.

NIOS has carefully designed the program to include assignments and contact programs. These features enable students to get better involved in the learning process.

Who is it for?

NIOS Class 10 program has been specially designed for learners who may have discontinued their school education due to various reasons. The program helps applicants complete their Class 10 education offering them the freedom of learning through online and classroom mode and the flexibility to write their exams once they are prepared.

National Institute of Open Schooling has set a minimum age criterion for application. The applicant should be at least 14 years old to be eligible to pursue NIOS Class 10 program.

Examination Pattern

There are two examinations held every year and a candidate can attend up to nine examinations in a span of five years before which he/she must complete the course. Apart from it, the learner can also opt for On-Demand Examination facility. All languages and theoretical subjects will have examination for 100 marks. Subjects such as Mathematics, Science and Technology, Home Science, Painting will have both theory and practical exams carrying total marks of 85 and 15 respectively. The learners also have the option to choose their medium of instruction. NIOS Class 10 program is offered in about 13 Indian languages which include English, Hindi, Urdu, Mallayallam, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil etc.

There will also be assignments and internal assessments conducted during the course.

NIOS Class 12, or Senior Secondary Course, helps students complete their pre-degree education in Distance Learning mode. The course can be taken up by anyone who is more than 15 years old. Participants can learn at their own pace and write their exams as per their choice. The course has been specifically designed to match the needs of working professionals and those who discontinued schooling and have a dream of going up the ladder in life through education.

NIOS Class 12 is now offered in UAE by Times Education. We are a recognized Study Centre for the program and we enable students to make the choice of subjects, learn comfortably and complete their assignments during the course. Course and Certification

NIOS Class 12 course is offered by National Institute of Open Schooling which is a recognized educational board under Government of India. The course is equivalent to any Class 12 course offered by State board or any recognized board in India. Therefore, NIOS Class 12 certificate is recognized throughout the world for higher education as well as employment.

Examination Pattern

The regular public exams are held twice a year. NIOS students can take up examinations on demand in order to write their papers at their convenience. The language subjects carry 100 marks while some of the core subjects such as Physics, Chemistry have theoretical and practical divisions. While the theoretical subjects are for 80 marks the practical subjects are for 20 marks. The medium of instructions for Class 12 program includes English, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Odia and others.

Participants will also have Personal Contact Programs and Tutor Marked Assignments which help out in learning.

GED | General Educational Development

General Educational Development (or GED) tests are a group of four subject tests which, when passed, certify that the taker has American or Canadian high school-level academic skills. The GED is also referred to as a General Education Diploma, General Equivalency Diploma, or Graduate Equivalency Degree. Once you get the GED diploma, you can pursue higher education and if you decide to do so, you will get the same government financial aid as any other high school graduate does. In order to sit for the GED Test candidates usually take up GED class so that they can prepare well of the GED Test. The GED® program is the only higher secondary certificate available in over 85 countries and accepted by nearly all universities in the U.S. and many across the world.

The GED® exam is made up of 4 subjects, broken into separate exams: Mathematical Reasoning, Reasoning Through Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science. You don’t have to take all 4 exams at once - you can space them out and go at your own pace. How the test works ?

The GED® test has a passing score of 145 on each test part.
