Tax Talk is a specialized service of the independent accounting firm Contabilidad en Tu Idioma, dedicated to providing tax and accounting guidance for expatriates who hold temporary or permanent residency in Mexico.
My name is Erik Zamora, founder and managing director of Tax Talk.
My professional background combines business, finance, and accounting. Since 2018, I have advised individuals and entrepreneurs on tax and accounting matters through Contabilidad en Tu Idioma. In 2025, I founded Tax Talk to help expatriates navigate the complexities of Mexican tax law with clarity and confidence.
To better serve international clients, I have completed specialized studies in Mexican Tax Law, Customs Law, and International Tax Treaties. My academic background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences from Universidad del Valle de México and a Master's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Universidad Tecmilenio. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
Tax Talk was born from a series of conversations with my wife during dinner.
My wife is American, and we live together in Querétaro, Mexico. Although she is a permanent resident of Mexico, she continues to work remotely for a school in Florida. As she adapted to life in Mexico, she often asked questions about her new tax obligations as a Mexican tax resident.
The challenge was simple: I did not have the answers.
Determined to help her, I began studying the subject in depth. As I researched Mexican tax residency, international taxation, foreign income reporting, and tax treaty provisions, I quickly realized that my wife was not alone. Across Mexico, thousands of expatriates face similar questions and uncertainties. Even more concerning, many receive incomplete, outdated, or incorrect information.
That discovery became the foundation of Tax Talk.
Our mission is to provide clear, accurate, and practical tax guidance for expatriates who have chosen to make Mexico their home. Whether someone is working remotely, receiving foreign income, navigating tax residency rules, or simply trying to understand their obligations, Tax Talk exists to help them make informed decisions and remain compliant with Mexican tax laws.
Unlike traditional accounting firms, Tax Talk was built specifically for expatriates. We understand that moving to another country creates unique tax questions that often cannot be answered through generic advice. Our goal is to explain complex tax matters in plain English, provide practical solutions, and help our clients understand their obligations with confidence. We believe that clear communication, technical expertise, and personalized guidance are essential for anyone building a life in Mexico.
At Tax Talk, we believe that choosing Mexico as your home should be exciting, not stressful. Tax compliance should not feel overwhelming simply because you moved to another country. Our purpose is to bridge the gap between complex tax regulations and the everyday realities of expatriate life, so our clients can focus on living, working, and building their future in Mexico with confidence and peace of mind.
