What is Employees Provident Fund (EPF)

EPF is one of the main platform of savings in India for nearly all people working in Government, Private or Public sector organizations. It is implemented by the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) of India. Employees Provident Fund is done through Taxsure Consultancy Services.

Companies which have employee strength of 20 or more are required to be registered with PF Department. The capacity of 20 includes contract employees like housekeeping, security or other contractual workers in the business. Those companies which do not have the endorsed number of employees but willing to register themselves to provide the advantages of Provident Fund to their employees can register voluntarily with the Regional Provident Fund Office. Registration has to be done within One month from the date of hiring 20 employees. Any delay may result in a penalty.

What is Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC)

Employee State Insurance Corporation or ESIC is a self-financing social security and health insurance scheme which provides medical benefit, sickness benefit, maternity benefit, disablement benefit and various other benefits such as funeral expenses, free supply of physical aids etc. to the employees and their family.

Units or Establishments that have 10 or more employees, drawing the wages of up to Rs.15,000 a month are required to be registered for ESIC under the ESI Act 1948. The benefits provided by the scheme are funded from the contributions raised from covered employees and their employers at the fixed percentage of wages. At present, covered employees contribute 1.75% of the wages to the ESIC and covered employers contribute 4.75% of the wages, payable to their employees. The state government also contribute 1/8th share cost of medical benefit. ESI Registration is done through Taxsure Consultancy Services.

All Establishments and Factories employing more than 10 employees are required to mandatorily apply for ESI registration within 15 days of the ESI Act, 1948 becoming applicable to them.

Eligibility for Employees Provident Fund

At the time of joining an employee in the employment and getting wages up to Rs. 15,000/- is required to become a member.

In this act, Wages implies and includes Basic + Dearness Allowances, Cash value of food concession and retaining allowances, if any.

  3. Scan copy of company’s PAN (Proprietor’s, in case of proprietorship concern)
  4. Scan copy of Licences available in name of the company. (like Service Tax, VAT etc)
  5. Scan copy cheque of company's bank A/c
  6. Address of the company with address proof
  7. List of Directors/Partners
  8. Address proof of Proprietor/Director/Partner (AADHAR CARD & PAN CARD )
  9. Email address, Mobile Number of Proprietor/Director/Partner
  10. Copy of First Sale Bill/Job Work Bill and first Purchase Bill
  11. Monthly strength of employees from Date of setup
  12. Current List of employees with details:

Documents Required For ESI Registration

To be Submitted by Employer :

  1. Registration Certificate or Licence issued under Shops and Establishment Acts or Factories Act.
  2. Address Proof: Latest Rent receipt of the premises you are occupying indicating the capacity in which the premises are occupied, if applicable.
  3. Latest building Tax/Property Tax receipt (Photocopy).
  4. Memorandum and Articles of Association/Partnership Deed/Trust Deed depending on the entity that is applying for registration.
  5. Photocopy of certificate of Commencement of production and/or Registration No. of CST/ST (or GST once it becomes applicable).
  6. Copy of PAN Card
  7. Evidence in support of the date of commencement of production/business/first sale (e.g. Copy of First Invoice).
  8. Month wise employment position, salary etc.
  9. Copy of bank statement
