It is extremely important to take your airport taxi from the official taxi rank in order to avoid getting scammed or overcharged. At Istanbul Airport, you will find the airport taxis queuing up outside the domestic and international Arrivals areas, in the Plaza section. Official taxi ranks can also be found on the Departures floor and the Other Arrival floor. However, if you have pre-booked your taxi transfer, the pick-up location will be on the -2 floor.

To find the Istanbul airport taxi pickup locations at the airport, after your flight has landed and you have collected your bags, look for the signs directing you to taxis, or ask an airport employee. There are taxi rank locations in both the domestic arrivals and departures area as well as the international arrivals and departures area, and they are all very easy to find.

One of the most important tips that you need to know about taking a taxi from Istanbul New Airport is that the traffic on the often long journey to the city can be very bad. Taxis operate on a metered basis, which means longer rides result in higher fares. This can also be a significant downside if you are in a hurry, although there are not that many other options for getting to Istanbul from the airport that provide such a good balance of cost and privacy.

And there is no legal duty for you to tip your driver, and indeed you might not want to in the event that they scammed you, or they were rude, got into an accident, or anything else seriously negative happened during your journey. But if your driver was polite and got you safely to your destination, you should consider tipping them with cash over just the final fare amount.

We will arrive in Istanbul new airport in the evening close to 9pm and booked a hotel nearby Premium Dem for our stopover. Is it advisable to take the taxi or take the hotel shuttle service for 20 Euros per way ? Thank you in advance for assisting

I will be arriving at 10:00 AM in Istanbul in June and have a flight to catch at 8:00 AM the next day. I would imagine I would have to be at the airport around 6:00 AM that morning. I would like to spend the day in Istanbul visiting sites.

Can anyone give advice if I should try to stay around the airport (although not a vast amount of options) and if I did whether a taxi can be easily found so early in the morning. Reading reviews of some of the hotels around the airport where a shuttle was provided for an outrageous price.

Or should I stay in the city center and get a taxi ? With the second alternative I probably would need to leave at 5:00 AM to reach the airport by 6:00. Any suggestions are welcome as this is my first time in Istanbul.

I would go for a hotel in the city center, and take the 5 am traffic-free ride to the airport. To prevent taxi scams, please ask your hotel lobby to arrange for a taxi to take you to the airport. Here are the options for your ride from the airport to the hotel.

Well, surprise. The driver tells me it cost 550 TLR but takes almost 2 hours whereas it costs 700 TLR in 50 minutes. I was in hurry so I had to take shorter one. (I suspect there is no such longer route exist). I tried to pay bt credit card and driver says POS terminal is not working. I had to squeeze out all my remainin cash.

I would like to know the taxi fare from Istanbul IST airport to Bursa (Osmangaz, 16050 Bursa, Turkey) for 3 people as we are planning to go to bursa directly from the airport. ( we do not want to use the bus services).

Hi,

I am looking to visit soon, how much does a taxi cost cost from Sabiha Gokcen to SultanAhmet, my hotel quoted 45 Euros which seemed quite expensive but then Welcome Pickups quoted the same. Is this the standard costs? Or is it cheaper taking a taxi from the airport? I land around 6.30pm, how long will it take to reach SultanAhmet? Is traffic quite busy around that time?

Would it be worth booking directly with my hotel instead of WP?

Help me help my friend. He is stuck here in Badervili, Dulkadirolu/Kahramanmara, Turkey and needs to get to the Kahramanaras Airport by noon on Monday. What is the most trusted transfer and taxi service that he could use?

Great, i see it is a bus.. so do they take the istanbulkart which I will purchase from the airport? and do they run every hour. Are they easy to locate once we step out of the airport? i am asking because I had read various comments saying that you have to wait a lot for the bus to fill up and for some others it was not easy to locate.

Thank you.

Hi. I am arriving to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport on the 6th of June and have a hotel in Sultanahmet area. What is the cheapest form of taxi as I have a child with me too? Also my return flight is from Istanbul airport so again what would be the best way? Kind regards.

I plan to arrive at the IST airport in a few days with my family and will be going to the Hilton (Mall of Istanbul) around Baakehir for a few days. We will likely need a bigger car (the Vito or similar). If we were to get one at the airport, is there a rough estimate of what it should cost? I just want to have an idea so I can know what I should target when talking to the cab drivers!

Have you read my post on how to get from the Istanbul airport to your hotel? I strongly suggest you to take a private transfer (link in the article) if you travel with a lot of luggage. You can fill in your destination and get an estimate.

Hello, I am needing transportation from a hotel in Pamukkale to the Dalaman Airport approximately 3 hours South. Will taxis travel that long distance? As of yet, I am not locating a private transport service. I am unable to rent a vehicle and return it elsewhere. Any suggestions?

Hello!

We want to take a taxi to the airport at 5am. We are near Taksim square. We see taxis there during all day. Will there be at night too?

It is a goos option to take the taxi there?

Thank you!!

Hello, i booked a hotel for april, near to the blue mosque and they said the taxi fee cost me 40 euros from Instanbul airport to the hotel, do you think is a good rate or is better dont do the bookig and find a taxi when we arrive? thanls

What you can do is report it to the police, they take these things very serious. For that they of course need the license plate of the car or the license of the driver (which should be visible inside the car).

Sadly, but this is true..

All are same here

All charging insanely..

Each and everyone adds up their margin..

I loved the place but this cheating adds to my memory from turkey..

I am in Istanbul at the moment and I use a app called Bitaski. I signed into it with my Gmail account you put a address you want to go to and tells you what the ride will cost. It has been approximate up or down around 10 lira .it is a must if you are traveling to Istanbul.

It was around 9pm. He said give me 50 lira in advance for the fare trip. And then suddenly after i gave him the money, he said for the national taxi the series number money must be started from I. I started to feel suspicious, when i open my wallet he snatched the money right away pretending to help me and then show it to his colleague to act like there is something wrong with the money. And then pretending to give back the money. He was so aggressive. I got out from the taxi right away. He pretended to be disappointed.

Istanbul taxi drivers are notorious at scamming tourists. The Bitaxsi app and Uber are far better alternatives than just hailing a cab in Istanbul. However, even with Bitaxsi you may be scammed. On a recent trip, I noticed every time my Bitaxsi booked journey ended, the driver would type a higher fare into the app than what is on the meter. So 15 lira instead of 12Lira shown on meter. This happened every day. On one occasion, the journey on the meter was 15.5 Lira. The driver entered 155 Lira into the app. These scams spoil the experience for tourists, it only mqkes people not wanting to return to the country. The fare differences may be small, but the principle of honesty is clearly lacking in Istanbul.

Hi, I arrive at Istanbul New Airport 28 December 16.55. Can you please tell me how much I will expect to pay in a taxi for 2 passengers, 2 suitcases, and 1 hand luggage to Dila Hotel, Kadikoy district please. Would I be better booking online for both onward and return journey or just get a taxi from outside arrivals.

With a regular taxi this would be about 250 TL I guess (including the bridge toll), could be more in case of heavy traffic. If you prefer to order online and have a fixed price, go for Kiwi Taxi instead. 152ee80cbc
