Taxi is an American sitcom that originally aired on ABC from September 12, 1978, to May 6, 1982, and on NBC from September 30, 1982, to June 15, 1983. The series won 18 Emmy Awards, including three for Outstanding Comedy Series. It focuses on the everyday lives of a handful of New York City taxi drivers and their abusive dispatcher. Taxi was produced by the John Charles Walters Company, in association with Paramount Network Television, and was created by James L. Brooks, Stan Daniels, David Davis, and Ed. Weinberger, all of whom have been brought on board from working on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

For most of the run of the show, the ensemble cast consisted of taxi drivers Alex Reiger (Judd Hirsch), Bobby Wheeler (Jeff Conaway), Elaine Nardo (Marilu Henner), Tony Banta (Tony Danza), and "Reverend" Jim Ignatowski (Christopher Lloyd), along with their dispatcher Louie De Palma (Danny DeVito) and mechanic Latka Gravas (Andy Kaufman).

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) offers both Flat Rate Taxis and Metered Taxis. Metered taxi's charge per mile/time and can be identified with a three digit vehicle number and are painted a single color. Flat rate taxi's offer a flat rate based off zip code and use a four digit vehicle number and are painted in two colors.

On-demand taxi service is provided by the Sacramento Independent Taxi Owners Association (SITOA) by contract. This contract ensures the availability of cars and the quality of equipment and service provided. While several companies are members of the association, all cars are white, carry airport branding and are required to maintain levels of customer service and cleanliness.

Most kayakers planning their own trip access the park via a water taxi or charter boat from Seward and get dropped off in Aialik Bay, Northwestern Lagoon or Bear Glacier Lagoon. While most commercial entities operating in the park are required to have a commercial use authorization (CUA), many water taxi services actually operate outside of park boundaries (i.e. below the mean high-tide line), so are not required to have a CUA.

Pace's Taxi Access Program (TAP) allows ADA Paratransit eligible riders immediate access to a Chicago taxi to meet their transportation needs, as an alternative to riding ADA Paratransit. To use TAP, you must be certified for ADA Paratransit by the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) and you must have an active TAP card to purchase TAP rides.

TAP can be a great way to travel for last-minute plans. Unlike ADA Paratransit, there's no need to reserve a trip a day in advance. You can call or hail a taxi at your convenience. Passengers can request a wheelchair-accessible (WAV) taxicab ride in Chicago by calling the City of Chicago's centralized WAV taxi dispatch service at 888-WAV-CABS (1-888-928-2227). Note: TAP card cannot be used when booking trips through any mobile taxi app.

The City of River Falls has received State and Federal grant dollars to help fund a shared-ride taxi program. This taxi service is open to anyone and covers the area within the City of River Falls as well as five miles outside the city limits.

This program provides discounted taxicab fares to qualified individuals, age 60 and older, and persons of any age with a permanent disability through coupon booklets that are accepted by all taxicab companies in Clark County.

At Boston Logan, taxis are available on the Arrivals level at Terminals A, B and E, and on the Ground Level of the Central Parking Garage for Terminal C. Taxis at Boston Logan have designated stands, and taxi dispatchers are present in all terminals to assist you in finding transportation from Boston Logan.

The Town regulates taxi fares through a Zone System." This system includes a maximum fare that can be charged, allows taxis to charge $4.00 for passengers above four people, and utilizes an average rate of $3.15 per mile.

The Suffolk County Taxi & Limousine Commission (SCTLC) strives to achieve two main goals to better protect that system.
