The TAVIA Awards is a collaboration between AnimeCom Fest and the Jamaica Animation Nation Network (JANN) to promote animation development by students studying animation at Tertiary and Vocational Training Institutions. It is held exclusively at AnimeCom Fest.

About AnimeCom Fest
AnimeCom Fest is an annual 2-day, multi-genre creative convention and popular-culture entertainment festival celebrating animation, the arts, pop culture, and cultural diversity. The event aims to inspire local creators while bringing together fans, creators, and the industry. It features animation, cosplay, comics, gaming, art, film, K-pop, content creators, vendors, guests, panels, exhibits, competitions, performances, prizes, and so much more; there is something for everyone. https://www.animecomfest.com
How It Works
How It Works

Create your capstone/ final project/ animated production/ thesis animation while at your institution. Ensure that it is an original production with all rights reserved by you and/or your team.

Submit your animated production by going to the Home Page.

Shortlisted candidates will receive a notification via WhatsApp and/or email with the TAVIA Awards Official Selection Laurel Leaves. The leaves can then be added to your production for future showcases/ film festivals.

At least one team member attends the TAVIA Awards on the Sunday of AnimeCom Fest to receive awards (if applicable).

The Awards
Students submit one animation with the character designs. From that one submission, the following awards are determined:
Best Animation
Best Voice Acting
Best Character Design
Best Story
People’s Choice Awards
International judges review the submissions and use the rubric at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_BnIa61c0bNKm2br6PVbD9rQVB0iPOF4Gjbu64T5n14/edit?usp=sharing to score them. From the scores, Best Animation, Best Voice Acting, Best Character Design and Best Story are determined. All the submissions for the TAVIA Awards are showcased at AnimeCom Fest. Patrons who watch the showcase are asked to vote for their favourite animation. The winner receives the People’s Choice Awards.
