"The Wolf" Julio Cortázar, the story behind a tattoo...
Carol called him "The Wolf" and Julio called her "Little Bear".
Their vehicle was a 1970s Volkswagen van, caramel-red in color, with a caterpillar shape.
In May 1982, the famous writer Julio Cortázar and his young wife Carol Dunlop embarked on a journey along the Autoroute du Soleil for 33 days.
One of the rules of the game: they could not leave the highway until completing the Paris-Marseille route.
They packed two typewriters and a camera with the intention of documenting their exploration as it happened. The third member of the trip was Stephane Hebert (14 years old), Carol’s son, who was documenting for a future book by drawing scenes and maps of this journey.
The result would be "Autonauts of the Cosmoroute" (1983), a cult classic.
42 years later, Stephane wanted to immortalize "The Wolf" (Julio Cortázar) on his arm with a tattoo done by artist Krimatt (Chile 2024).
