I have always loved repetitive patterns, sacred geometry and the rigidity and order found in nature. As with most artists, I am strongly inspired by indigenous, tribal art and its use of repetitive patterns.

Thank you! I try to take photos of the tattoo in its best light. I am an artist whose work gets up and walks out the door, so the photograph is the only documentation I have. I try to make sure I get the best photographs I can, which can be challenging at times. After tattooing for days, both the client and myself are exhausted!

When you think of a traditional japanese tattoo sydney, we all tend to think of a mouth open fierce dragon, a peaceful koi with some splashes or a serene multicolour phoenix. But there is a wide range of lesser known Traditional Japanese Motifs, that are often overlooked by people.

The dogs/lions are usually depicted in pairs. When used as statues, the pair would consist of a male leaning his paw upon an embroidered ball (in imperial contexts, representing supremacy over the world) and a female restraining a playful cub that is on its back (representing nurture). In tattoo form, they are said to represent prosperity, success and guardianship.

This comes from a real life crab that commonly appears across the beaches and coastal areas of Japan, in which the crab appears to have the face of a samurai on the back within its shell. Due to Japanese folklore, these crabs are believed to embody the souls of fallen samurai in past battles. In tattoo form, a crab is a powerful symbol of wealth, renewal and adventures of the sea. More specifically, the heikegani is representative of the samurais from costal battles whose souls were lost at sea.

Baku are Japanese supernatural beings that are said to devour nightmares. According to legend, they were created by the spare pieces that were left over when the gods finished creating all other animals. They have a long history in Japanese folklore and art, and more recently have appeared in manga and anime. The Baku can also transform bad dreams in to good dreams, so it is considered to be auspicious and protective in tattoo form. A baku tattoo is basically a good luck charm.

The Japanese fox, or kitsune, features as both a yokai (supernatural being) or a celestial being, often worshiped at Shinto Shrines (there are temples in Japan dedicated to the kitsune). The 9-tailed fox specifically represents peace and prosperity. In tattoo form, it can symbolise long life, intelligence, and procreation.

The attitude towards tattooing in Azerbaijani society is antipodal among its various representatives: for some it is a stain on honor, for others it is art. Young people treat it with interest, but the adult generation, for the most part, with condemnation. This is the reason why there even are those who hide their tattoos from their own parents, while living under the same roof.

A positive feature of mastering the art of tattooing is that one can work and earn money in any country if one has the right equipment at hand, Pashayev said. But there are also negative sides. This, above all, concerns the personal life of the master.

My family and relatives thought that this was not a job for a man. While I was studying the art of tattooing, I said at home that I was studying design. For two months I hid my tattoo from my family. But I think a tattoo artist should have a tattoo on his body.

I live in Baku far from my family. My parents are in the countryside. The tattoo is in plain sight. The reason I hide the drawing on the body from them is that they are very negative about it. Not because it is harmful to the body, but because it is a province, tattoos are against their mentality, for girls as well as for guys.

Baku is considered one of the most fascinating tattoos of Asia. This twin dragon tattoo is just perfect. Not only the final result, the design is very harmonic, we do love the wave detail in the center of the back and all the patterns, as well as the color chosen.

Tigers represent the values strength, courage and virility. Tattoos of tigers may represent these qualities along with warding off bad luck and evil spirits. They are the kings of the land realm, and so may be paired with peonies - the king of flowers. Bamboo may also be depicted with tigers, representing strength and flexibility. Dragons and tigers are a common pairing - the tiger represents yin, and dragon yang. As sleeves, the tiger would be on the left arm and the dragon on the right, or they may be duelling on a backpiece. Tigers are associated with autumn, and so may be paired with maple leaves. Usually tigers are depicted perched on a rock, with waves crashing at their feet, and swirling wind above.

Dragons represent the values wisdom, propriety, generosity and benevolence, which pairs well with chrysanthemums. Cherry blossoms (and less commonly the peony) may also be a good flower pairing because dragons represent springtime. In Japanese culture they are rulers of both the skies and the seas. Said to live in the ocean and control the rain - dragons are often paired with water themes like waves or sea critters. Maple leaves can accompany dragons, representing change, and the cycle of life. Tigers may be shown opposing dragons as they are the rulers of the land. The king of the skies and seas versus the king of the land. Dragons are one of the four cardinal beasts - representing the direction east, season spring, colour teal, and element wood.

Cranes represent gracefulness, fidelity, good fortune, family, love and long life. As cranes are known to fly over 4,500 meters high in the air, they are thought to carry those who have passed away to heaven. Clouds and wind of course should be paired with the crane. One of the more popular legends says that if you fold 1000 paper cranes you will have your wishes granted. Tsuru are known for their elaborate mating rituals, and once bonded, they stay with their partner for life. Very often cranes are paired with the mythical turtle minogame, to symbolise longevity - as both are said to live for up to 1000 years. It is also possible to combine cherry blossoms (spring) and maple leaves (autumn) with the crane if there is room - as together they represent the whole year, symbolising longevity. 152ee80cbc
