Research Fields
Topology, especially Geometric Topology, 3- and 4-manifolds
I am researching topology. I am trying to elucidate new properties of differential structures of 4-manifolds, constructing and identifying differential structures and calculating invariants.
In particular, when constructing differential structures, I am using handle calculus (also known as Kirby calculus), which is a deformation method on handle diagrams (also known as Kirby diagrams). When identifying differential structures of 4-manifolds, I also use Andrews-Curtis moves on finite representation groups of the fundamental groups of 4-manifolds, which are naturally obtained from handle calculus and handle diagrams.
As for the calculation of invariants, I am also studying 3-dimensional (rational) homology spheres that can be the boundary of 4-manifolds from the perspective of the 3-dimensional (rational) homology cobordism groups.
4-manifolds, handle diagrams, handle calculus, surface knots, pochette surgery (a generalization of Gluck surgery), P_{a, b}-surgery (P_{1, 1}-surgery = pochette surgery) / Seifert fibered spaces, surgery diagrams, the 3-dimensional (rational) homology coboundary group, the Ozsváth-Szabó d-invariant
Areas of special interest
4-manifolds (including torus surgery (also known as logarithmic transformation), Lefschetz fibrations, gauge theory, Heegaard Floer theory, trisections, knot traces), 3-manifolds, (surface) knot theory, mapping class groups, Hopf algebras.
