The Crimean Tatar language spoken in Romania is the continuation of the language of Nogais, which were settled from the northern Black See to Dobruja. The language did get influence from Ottoman Turkish, but also from modern Turkish. In 19. century Russia started to control Budjak, some of the Tatars did settled to Dobruja at the end of the 19. century. After 19.-20. century, the Crimean Tatar language started to create a modern literature, and many Romanian loanwords did start to appear in the language.
The language is spoken in Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine. Special places are Dobruja (Bulgaria, Romania) and Budjak (Moldova, Ukraine) or around these areas, in Turkey they are to find in different areas of Anatolia.
Crimean Tatar spoken in Romania is a member of Kipchak-Nogai languages. It has very similarities and is understandable with Nogai, Karakalpak and Kazakh. Also with Turkmen, although it's a member of Oghuz languages.
In 1956 is a Latin alphabet approved, it was used also in University of Bucharest (1957-1977).
Also Arabic script, Cyrillic script and Old Turkic script were used to write the language.
