I followed the road until I got to a utility pole lying across the street. I began to walk around it when my feet got caught in the mud. A loud pop echoes as I pull my boot free of the mud. I groan at all the mud in front of me until I pause. Mud means water.

I try to focus and hear running water in the distance. I walk through the trees and see a stream just a little into the forest. I go to fill up the water bottle I have been drinking from. As I got closer, I could hear the water rushing over rocks and steep drops. I bent down beside the stream, or what used to be a stream. It looks almost like a river now, and it has grown exponentially in size.
This makes me pause for a second. There hasn't been a lot of rain; how did this happen? This doesn't make sense to me, but I should still fill my water bottle.
There was a large rock on my side of the river, and I decided to use the stone so I didn't risk getting stuck in the mud surrounding the river. The smell of the water is refreshing. I hold my bottle below the water to fill it up and close the lid.
As I got up to leave, my foot slid on the wet rock, and I fell backward. The sun was the last thing I saw before falling into the rapid water. I thought the sun seemed brighter than usual as I got swept away by the rapids.
