I am a Research Fellow at the Centre for Addiction Research, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, University of Auckland. I studied PhD in Public Health at the University of Technology Sydney and MPH at the University of Melbourne in Australia. I previously held appointments at Massey University New Zealand, the University of Technology Sydney and the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B).
I am a biostatistician by training. My research interest broadly lies within the areas of ageing and sleep deprivation, addiction as well as child and women's health and healthcare services. I have published my work in reputed public health journals like The Lancet, Bulletin of the World Health Organization, Journal of Gerontology: Medical Sciences, Scientific Reports, Health Policy and Planning, Journal of Perinatology, and Public Health. I am currently doing research related to a comparative study on drinking patterns in New Zealand, Canada, Australia, and the UK and the role of sleep in mental health inequities in middle childhood using Growing Up in New Zealand longitudinal data. My teaching interests include the broad area of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
