If you want a complete, ready-to-use pair of studio-grade headphones for critical listening and construction site monitoring, choose Tascam TH-MX2; if you need an affordable, do-it-yourself repair kit to restore your existing Beats Studio 3 or Studio 2 to like-new condition, choose Pumyog Studio 3. These two products serve entirely different purposes in the audio world, yet both find themselves in the search results of people looking for reliable sound solutions for demanding environments. One is a finished product designed from the ground up for professional audio work, while the other is a replacement component meant to extend the life of a specific, popular consumer headphone model. Understanding this fundamental distinction is the only way to make a smart decision without wasting money on a part you cannot install or a device that lacks the features you actually need.
• Tascam TH-MX2: Offers a complete, wired over-ear experience with 40mm drivers and passive noise cancellation, but requires a separate audio source and offers no wireless connectivity. Best for users who need a dedicated tool for mixing or high-volume work sites.
• Pumyog Studio 3: Provides a perfect-fit replacement arch band for specific Beats models with a magnetic screwdriver included, but does not function as a standalone headphone system. Best for owners of broken Beats Studio 3 or Studio 2 units who want to save on repairs.
• The Verdict: The Tascam is a functional device for the job; the Pumyog is a spare part for an existing device.
The Tascam TH-MX2 is built as a closed-back studio mixing headphone, which means it is engineered specifically to isolate sound and provide accurate frequency reproduction for recording and monitoring tasks. Its design centers around a lightweight chassis weighing just 298 grams, making it manageable for long sessions where fatigue can become a real issue. The ear cups feature tightly-stitched, padded headbands and ear bands wrapped in leatherette, creating a seal that delivers supreme audio quality while blocking out external distractions through passive noise cancellation. This isolation is crucial when you are trying to hear subtle details in a mix or monitor equipment on a noisy floor without cranking the volume to dangerous levels.

At the heart of the audio performance lies a 40mm neodymium magnet driver capable of reproducing frequencies from 18 Hz to 22 kHz. This wide range ensures that both the deep bass and the crisp highs are present and clear, which is essential for anyone working in audio production or needing to hear every nuance of machinery and speech in a construction environment. The impedance sits at 32 ohms, allowing these headphones to drive easily from most portable devices or standard audio interfaces without needing a powerful amplifier. They come with a generous cable length of about 9.8 feet (3 meters) when fully extended, giving you plenty of slack to move around your workspace without being tethered tightly to your source.
This product is ideal for professionals who need a reliable, wired connection that never fails due to battery issues or Bluetooth interference. If you are a contractor, foreman, or audio engineer who needs to listen critically for hours on end, the Tascam provides the comfort and durability required. However, you should skip this option if you are looking for wireless freedom or if you already own a pair of Beats Studio 3 with a broken headband and are hoping this will fix it. The Tascam is a standalone unit, not a repair part, so it will not solve a mechanical failure on another brand of headphones.
The Pumyog Studio 3 is not a headphone set you wear out of the box; it is a replacement arch band designed specifically for Beats by Dr. Dre Studio 3 (Model A1914) and Studio 2 Wired/Wireless (Model B0500/B0501) units. If your favorite pair of over-ear headphones has cracked, snapped, or simply worn out at the top band, this component is the solution to bring them back to life. The product matches the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications exactly, ensuring that the color, size, and construction are indistinguishable from the factory part once installed. You will not be able to tell the difference between the new band and the old one after the repair is complete.
Installation is straightforward and does not require professional tools or extensive technical knowledge. The package includes a necessary magnetic screwdriver and detailed instructions, allowing even someone who is not good at taking stuff apart to replace the headband within 10 minutes. The screws used are minuscule, and the provided magnetic tool keeps them in place during assembly, preventing loss and making the process much less frustrating. Once the new band is attached, your headphones will look and feel brand-new again, effectively saving you from the exorbitant costs often charged by official shops for similar repairs.
This product is perfect for anyone who loves their current Beats headphones but is frustrated by a single point of failure—the headband. Instead of throwing away perfectly functional ear cups and drivers because the top bar broke, you can invest in this replacement to save your treasured gear. However, if you do not own a compatible Beats model, this item is useless to you. It is also not suitable for someone looking for a new pair of headphones for construction work, as it lacks the complete package of drivers, battery, and electronics needed to produce sound on its own. It is purely a mechanical fix for a specific hardware problem.

I would buy the Tascam TH-MX2 if I were looking for a dedicated pair of headphones to use for construction work or professional mixing. It is a complete, robust tool designed to handle the demands of loud environments and long listening sessions with a focus on accuracy and comfort. The Pumyog Studio 3 is an excellent product, but only in a very specific context: fixing a broken pair of Beats. Since my goal is to have a reliable audio solution for the job site rather than a repair kit for a consumer gadget, the Tascam is the only logical choice for a primary purchase.
No, neither product fits this description. The Tascam TH-MX2 uses dynamic drivers and closed-back design, not bone conduction technology, and neither product advertises active volume limiting features in its data sheet.
Neither of these is designed for sleeping. Both are over-ear studio headphones or replacement parts intended for active work environments, and they lack the ultra-low profile or specialized soft materials typically found in sleep-specific audio gear.
Yes, the package includes a magnetic screwdriver specifically designed to handle the tiny screws required for the installation, making the process accessible even for those with limited DIY experience.
No, the Tascam TH-MX2 is a wired-only device with a 3.5mm jack and does not include Bluetooth or any wireless technology.
