Tarry is a prayer-pause app: when you open an app you have chosen to guard, Tarry offers a short prayer before you continue. This policy explains what information the app touches and, more importantly, what it never does with it.
The short version: your personal data stays on your device. Tarry has no accounts and no sign-in. The only thing the app ever sends is anonymous usage statistics.
Information the app uses, on your device only
Your guarded-app choices. The list of apps you select for guarding is stored in the app's local storage on your device.
The app currently on screen. To show the prayer pause at the right moment, Tarry detects which app is in the foreground, using either Android's Usage Access (usage-events API) or, if you enable it, the Tarry accessibility service. Only the app's package name is read, never screen content, typed text, messages, or notifications. This detection is momentary and is not logged or stored as a history.
The list of apps installed on your device (launchable apps only), read solely to show you the selection list. It is displayed, not stored, and never leaves the device.
Your practice data. Prayer streaks, journal entries, chosen prayer hours, tradition, firmness tier, schedules, and settings are stored locally on your device.
Anonymous usage statistics
Tarry sends anonymous usage statistics through Aptabase (aptabase.com), a privacy-friendly analytics service. These are discrete events with coarse values, for example "prayer pause completed" or a count of guarded apps. They contain no account, no persistent device identifier, and no advertising identifier, and they are never linked to you.
They never include: your prayers, journal text, the names of your apps, your tradition or prayer hours, or anything obtained through the accessibility service.
What Tarry does not do
No personal data is collected, transmitted, sold, or shared with anyone, including us.
No accounts, no sign-in, no cloud sync.
No advertising or tracking SDKs.
The accessibility service never reads window content, never acts inside other apps, and is used only to notice which app is open.
Permissions, plainly
Usage Access: to detect when a guarded app opens.
Accessibility service (optional): a faster way to detect the same thing, for "strict" guarding. You enable it explicitly after an in-app explanation, and you can turn it off any time in Android's Accessibility settings.
Notifications: prayer-hour invitations, reminder-mode prompts, and the guarding status notice. Capped and configurable.
Data retention and deletion
Your personal data lives only in the app's local storage: clearing the app's data in Android settings, or uninstalling the app, permanently deletes it. There is no copy anywhere else. Analytics events are anonymous and not linked to you, so there is no per-user record to delete.
Children
Tarry is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone, of any age.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes what data is handled, this policy will be updated first and the change will be clearly announced in the app before it takes effect.
