Tareq Hossain is currently pursuing a PhD in the Cultural Studies in Asia program at the Department of Communication and New Media, National University of Singapore. His PhD project focuses on refugee agency and community-led knowledge production. He is also a research affiliate at the Refugee Law Initiative, School of Advanced Studies, University of London. 

Over the past seven years, Tareq has built extensive experience in research, humanitarian action, and international development. He served in the External Relations department at UNHCR Cox’s Bazar Station in Bangladesh and was featured for his outstanding performance. He also has experience in presenting papers at leading conferences (e.g., ICA, IAMCR, IACS) and worked as a Research Associate with several international organizations, including UNICEF, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), and the Institute of Informatics and Development (IID), contributing to projects on education, digital technologies, governance, and social development. Additionally, he has completed an online course with distinction on Refugee and Forced Migration studies from the University of Oxford. (May-July, 2023). He achieved the position of one of the finalists out of 52000 youth leaders (under 26 age) around the world by the Harvard Aspire Leaders Program 2023 cohort. 

His research and advocacy focus on amplifying the voices of marginalized communities in the Global South. His work examines refugee education, digital learning, humanitarian governance, transnational activism, climate-induced displacement, Information and Communication Technologies for Education (ICT4E), and social justice.
