Piece Three

My artwork is called "No Escape," and I am conveying one reason on why tigers are poached. For my ceramic, I placed the tiger on the base with clamps on its hands and feet to show that the tiger is 'pinned' to the floor like an animal skin rug. I hope to draw attention to these horrific cases such as tigers made into animal skin rugs, so people will realize that animals are being poached for consumerism. The process for creating my sculpture is a mixture between the pinch pot, slab, and coil techniques. I used the pinch pot technique to construct the tiger's body and head. Thereafter, I added clay onto the tiger to form the body including the legs. I began to work on the tiger's facial features by carving a sorrowful expression to signify its suffering.
