The Idea

TAP × MANTRA brings together rhythm, memory, and mindful words through play.

Each round begins with a tapping sequence:

Watch. Remember. Tap.

Following and repeating the pattern gives your attention something immediate to focus on. As you progress through the Journey, each successful round reveals a mantra to add to your collection.

TAP × MANTRA is not about mastering mindfulness or achieving a perfect score.

It is a rhythm-and-memory game designed to offer a quieter kind of play—one sequence and one mantra at a time.

Why Tapping + Mantras?

Tapping

Each round begins with a sequence.

Watch it, remember it, and tap it back.

Tapping is how you move through the experience. The rhythm gives your attention something immediate to follow while the environments, sounds, and progression create space for focused play.

Mantras

A mantra is a short phrase that can help focus attention and reconnect us with an intention.

The 90 mantras in TAP × MANTRA explore six themes:

Presence · Mindfulness · Gratitude · Compassion · Letting Go · Joy

As you move through the Journey, the mantras become something to discover, collect, revisit—and perhaps carry with you beyond the game.

The Journey

Journey Mode takes you through six chapters and 18 environments inspired by places across Nepal, Mongolia, and the Himalayan region.

Complete tapping sequences, discover mantras, and gradually build your collection.

There is no need to rush.

The Journey is designed to be something you can return to—a few rounds at a time or whenever you feel like playing.

Free Play

Sometimes you don’t need a destination.

Free Play lets you choose how you want to tap:

Standard for a traditional sequence-based game.

Endless for a continuing challenge.

Zen for a quieter experience without a sequence to complete.

Choose an environment, settle into a rhythm, and play at your own pace.

Daily Challenge

A new pattern each day.

Choose Easy, Normal, or Hard and test your memory. Replay any difficulty whenever you want and track how many Daily Challenge sessions you have successfully completed over time.

There are no streaks or leaderboards—just another way to focus, remember, and play.

Meet the Team

Randy Luu, MD — Creator

Randy Luu is an Internal Medicine physician who has practiced mindfulness and meditation for over a decade through meditation, dharma talks, contemplative reading, and structured mindfulness programs.

His interest in making mindfulness practical for everyday life previously led him to create MANTRA, a simple tool for living with greater intention, and TAP, a practice for meeting difficult emotions with awareness instead of avoidance.

He created TAP × MANTRA as a distinct rhythm-and-memory game built around sequence gameplay, progression, collectible mantras, and interactive audiovisual environments.

His approach centers on clarity, intention, and simplicity: creating experiences that make moments of mindfulness easier to bring into everyday life.

Max Sanchez — Visual Design Consultant

Max Sanchez has a background in traditional visual art with a particular appreciation for translating cultural and artistic traditions into contemporary visual experiences.

Max created the original logos for MANTRA and TAP, as well as the TAP × MANTRA logo.

The MANTRA identity drew from Japanese minimalism, Zen aesthetics, and the symbolism of a moon halo, while TAP was inspired by the movement of Buddhist prayer flags and the visual traditions of the Himalayan region.

For TAP × MANTRA, Max designed the logo and serves as a visual design consultant, providing feedback to help the finished app feel visually cohesive and consistent.

His previous work includes leading the suite artwork for Strava’s Sweat With Pride Challenge, which engaged more than 400,000 participants worldwide.

How TAP × MANTRA Came to Be

TAP × MANTRA grew from an interest in bringing rhythm, memory, and mindful words together through play.

The central idea was simple:

What if discovering a mantra became part of a game?

Each Journey round asks the player to watch a tapping sequence, remember its pattern, and reproduce it. Completing the round reveals a mantra and moves the player through a larger journey of six chapters and 18 environments.

The environments were inspired by places including Nepal, Mongolia, and the Himalayan region—landscapes and experiences connected with reflection, travel, and contemplative practice.

The result is intentionally simple:

A game you can play for a few minutes—and perhaps leave with something worth remembering.
