Join "EAT YOUR WEEDS" foraging event! 23rd August
Join our FREE event "EAT YOUR WEEDS - A gardener’s guide to uncultivated food"
SUNDAY, AUGUST 23RD - 11 AM - TAPLIN’S FIELDS - BRIDGEFOOT STREET PARK DUBLIN 8 - FREE
Ever look at the ground of a green space and wonder: what can I eat here? We have Dublin’s friendly neighbourhood forager, Connor Howlett from Stillgarden Community Garden, at Taplin’s to chat about all things urban wild food and flavour.
We’ll learn what edible plants grow in the park and surrounding area that we haven’t cultivated. After the talk, we’ll enjoy some wild infusions and get to taste some of what we’ve learned.
PROGRAMME
Wild herb walk: a gentle introduction around the park to discover the wild herbs growing naturally in the landscape.
Garden exploration: we’ll move into the community garden to look at the uncultivated plants thriving between the vegetable beds.
Herbal tea time: enjoy a warm herbal infusion together. Please bring your own mug to help us reduce waste.
THE SPEAKER
Connor Howlett is the gardener at Stillgarden Distillery, where he manages the multi-award-winning community space established in 2020, a once neglected wasteland transformed into a thriving wildlife garden. He leads the Social Botanist Project, an initiative where volunteers help care for the garden and cultivate or forage botanicals used in Stillgarden’s gin and spirits.
Connor brings extensive expertise in foraging, sustainable and wildlife-focused gardening, and community‑led ecological restoration. His work blends horticulture, flavour, biodiversity, and local engagement.
This event is supported by Guinness Dublin 8 Community Fund.
