Privacy Policy for TapKit Launcher
Effective date: October 10, 2026
Benjamin Scott (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides TapKit Launcher, an Android home screen app. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the app, visit this website, or contact us.
TapKit Launcher is free, is supported by advertising, and does not offer user accounts. We do not operate our own servers. Information that leaves your device is processed by third-party services — mainly Google’s advertising, analytics, and installation-source services, described in Sections 3 to 5. Sections 6 and 7 describe notifications and the optional uninstall survey. Information you choose to send by email, and information processed by this website, are described separately below.
For privacy questions, contact benjaminscott193@gmail.com.
1. Information used on your device
TapKit Launcher uses information about the apps available on your device to display them and let you open them. It stores your launcher setup — home screen pages, folders, the apps in the bottom row, Quick Access settings, and your preferences — on your device. We do not operate a server that stores your launcher settings, and we do not receive an uploaded copy of your installed app list.
The “most-used” row in the app drawer is produced from how often apps are opened. This is computed on your device and is not uploaded by the launcher.
App search in the drawer runs on your device and works offline. We do not record what you type in the search box; our analytics (Section 4) record only usage details, such as whether a search returned results, not the search text.
Quick Access tools work on your device. The text you type in the LED banner tool, scoreboard scores, and timer settings are used by the tool itself and are not uploaded by the launcher. The QR scanner shows what it recognizes on your screen; nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose to open a recognized link or app. The sound meter estimates noise levels through the microphone in real time and does not record or upload audio.
2. Permissions and device access
You can select TapKit Launcher as your default home app through Android settings and change this selection at any time, including from the launcher’s own settings.
The launcher requests permissions when a feature needs them:
Notifications. Requested during first-time setup so the app can send reminders to finish setting your default home app and notifications about launcher tools. You can turn these off in the app’s settings and in Android’s notification settings.
Camera. Used by the QR code scanner while the scanner is open.
Microphone. Used by the sound meter tool while the tool is open.
Do Not Disturb access. Used by the sound modes feature (Meeting, Sleep, Gaming, Outdoor) to apply the volume and notification changes of the mode you choose.
Other device capabilities. The flashlight uses the device’s flash, the vibration tool uses the vibrator, and the compass and level tools use motion sensors. These are used while the corresponding tool is open.
Declaring a permission in an Android app does not mean that Android grants every access it names. Access depends on the permission, Android version, device configuration, and any authorization required by the system. If you deny or revoke a permission, the feature that needs it will not work, but the rest of the launcher remains usable. You can manage permissions through your device settings at any time.
3. Advertising
TapKit Launcher is free and supported by advertising. The app displays third-party ads, delivered through Google’s advertising service (Google AdMob); we do not create or control third-party ad content, and ads are delivered under Google’s own policies (Google Privacy Policy). You can reset or delete your advertising ID and control ad personalization in your device’s privacy settings.
4. Analytics and feature configuration
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the launcher is used: for example, whether setup steps are completed, which tools are opened or finished, which notifications are sent or clicked, and which settings are changed. Firebase Analytics automatically collects information such as approximate country or region (derived from IP address), device model, operating system and app versions, and language, and it uses installation-level identifiers.
Analytics events describe usage, not content: they do not include what you type in app search, LED banner text, or other tool content.
We use Firebase Remote Config to configure features remotely, such as the timing and wording of notifications. This configuration is fetched from Google’s services and does not include your launcher layout or tool content.
5. Installation source
The app uses the Google Play Install Referrer service to learn which channel your installation came from, such as a promotional link, together with install timing. We use this to understand how the app is found and to measure our advertising, under the Google Privacy Policy.
6. Notifications
With your notification permission, the app may send:
Setup reminders. If TapKit Launcher is not set as your default home app, occasional reminders that open the setup screen. These stop once setup is completed or after a limited number of reminders.
Feature notifications. A limited number of daily notifications about launcher features and tools, such as the timer, flashlight, or sound modes.
These notifications describe only TapKit Launcher’s own features; they never contain third-party advertising. You can turn them off with the in-app notifications switch or in Android’s notification settings for TapKit Launcher. If notification permission is not granted, none of these notifications are sent.
7. Uninstall feedback survey
If you start uninstalling TapKit Launcher from within the app itself — for example, by long-pressing the TapKit icon in the app drawer — the app may first show a one-question survey asking why you are removing it. The survey is optional. A clearly visible skip button goes straight to the system’s uninstall confirmation; skipping does not delay uninstalling.
If you submit a response, the reason you select and any comment you type are sent to our analytics service (Section 4) to help us improve the app. The comment field is optional; please do not enter personal information in it. If you skip the survey, only the fact that it was skipped is recorded. Uninstalling the app in other ways, such as from system settings or your app store, does not show this survey.
8. Information you send by email
If you contact benjaminscott193@gmail.com, we receive your email address, your message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use this information to respond to you and investigate the issue or request you raise.
Please send only what is needed to explain your request. Do not send passwords or payment details. Remove unrelated personal information from screenshots before sending them.
Our contact address uses Gmail, so Google processes those emails as part of providing its email service. This is separate from data processing inside TapKit Launcher.
9. How information is shared
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers.
The third-party services described in this policy receive the information described above and handle it under their own policies, such as the Google Privacy Policy. Where laws treat certain transfers like these as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, you can opt out through the choices described in Section 3.
Support correspondence is handled through our email service. We may disclose information if required by applicable law or a valid legal request.
Apps that you open from TapKit Launcher are provided by their respective developers and handle information under their own privacy policies. This policy does not describe the practices of every app on your device.
10. This website
This website is hosted on Google Sites. When you visit it, Google may process information such as your IP address, browser information, and cookies under the Google Privacy Policy.
The way Google hosts this website is separate from the way TapKit Launcher processes information on your Android device. Your browser settings may let you manage or restrict cookies.
11. Retention and deletion
Local launcher data — layout, folders, settings, and tool data — stays on your device until you clear TapKit Launcher’s storage through Android settings or uninstall the app. Clearing storage resets the launcher to its defaults; it does not delete your apps, files, or data outside the launcher.
Analytics and advertising records held by Google are retained under Google’s policies for those services. Uninstalling the app stops further collection by the app’s embedded services but does not automatically delete records already held by Google.
We keep support emails while they are needed to answer your request, resolve an ongoing issue, or meet an applicable legal obligation, and delete them when they are no longer needed. You can request deletion of your support correspondence by contacting benjaminscott193@gmail.com.
TapKit Launcher does not provide user accounts, so there is no account to close and no account profile on our servers to delete. You can still make a request about personal information you have sent to us, including email correspondence.
12. Security
Locally stored app information is subject to your device’s storage and access protections. We limit access to support correspondence to handling support and privacy requests. Keep your device and operating system updated, and use a screen lock to help protect access to your information.
No method of electronic storage or transmission can guarantee complete security. If you believe information connected with TapKit Launcher has been exposed or misused, contact benjaminscott193@gmail.com.
13. Your choices and rights
You can manage the permissions the app requests, change your default home app, turn off notifications, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall TapKit Launcher through Android settings. The names and locations of these settings may vary by device.
For advertising, you can use the ad controls described in Section 3.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information held about you, or to object to or restrict certain uses. Where applicable, you may also withdraw consent or complain to a data protection authority.
To make a request, email benjaminscott193@gmail.com. We may ask for limited information needed to verify that the request relates to you and identify the relevant records. We will handle requests in accordance with applicable law. If information must be retained for a legal reason, we will explain the reason and the applicable retention period.
14. Children’s privacy
TapKit Launcher is a general-purpose home screen app. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app displays advertising, which is governed by Google’s policies for ad content. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent us personal information — for example, by email or in the uninstall survey comment field — contact benjaminscott193@gmail.com. We will review the request and delete information where appropriate or required by law.
15. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our data practices change and revise the effective date above. Where required, we will provide an additional notice or request consent before making a relevant change.
