History of Tapia Elementary School
Tapia Elementary School opened its doors in the early fifties. Its beginning was humble classes were first held in two rented houses. As the need for a school building became apparent, a two rooms school building made of light materials was constructed. During the later part of the fifties through donation from a civic spirited citizen, a 5,000 square meter lot was acquired. It is located within the vicinity of Barangay Tapia, General Trias, Cavite. A special building with five classrooms, an Army Building with two classrooms, a special classroom, a Marcos Building with three classrooms and a special room were constructed on 1960’s. Increased in enrolment caused the construction of USAID Building and a special building with two classroom in the time of Mrs. Elenita Dinglansan. During the time of Mrs. Esperanza Balboa a special classroom was raised but still there is a need for more classroom. A special building with two classroom during the administration of Mrs. Flordeliza Lumubos was built and a special building that housed the administration office and clinic was established during the term of Mr. Medardo C. Dimapilis. As the need of more classrooms has risen a 4 story building with 8 classrooms was started to be constructed at the time of Mrs. Mylyn R. Joya and finishes its construction during the time of Mr. Nelson H. Corpuz. At his time a multipurpose building was also became possible. The school have 18 instructional rooms but only 13 are usable and the rest are to be demolished to build a new building. Since 1950 the children from Brgy.Pinagtipunan and Brgy. Tapia studied in this school. In 1991 classes opened in Pinagtipunan, some pupils transferred in the new opened school. This situation caused the decrease of enrolment in the school. Started in two rented houses, Tapia Elem. School have had seven buildings with complete ancillary rooms.
On 2019 Congressman Luis ”JonJon” Ferrer III donated 1 building with 8 classrooms. And as of now, the school has 7 buildings but only 8 rooms are ideal for a classroom with the capacity of 45 pupils in each room. It is located in only 1 building. Used by grades 3 to 6 pupils each has 2 sections. The rest of the buildings are either for demolition or for major repair and it is not suitable for primary level learners. Those buildings are not ideal for a classroom purposes. As of now, the Tapia Elementary school has continuously increased their population because of the sprouting of subdivision around the barangay.
