About me

I have expertise in the field of Structural Geology and Tectonics. I have worked in the Eastern Ghats, Aravalli Mountain Belt, Southern Granulite Belt, and Himalaya. I have adopted new methodologies in my research, like SHRIMP ages, paleomagnetic studies, etc. I have contributed towards the understanding of the tectonic setting of the tectonic belts based on small-scale deformational fabric. I have applied geochronology to constrain the age of deformational events with other dynamic processes of the earth at various geological epochs beginning from Rodinia to Gondwanaland.

I love teaching and have been awarded the “Excellence in Teaching Award” for the years 2006, 2010,2014, and 2016 and “Prof. Sukhatme Award for Excellence in Teaching Award” for the year 2018 by IIT Bombay and “National Mineral Awardee” by Hon’ble President of India. Each year I accompany the students to the field at various places of India like Aravalli Mountain, Eastern Ghats, and Southern Granulite Terrane.

During my HOD ship, the Earth Sciences department has received a DST-FIST grant and MHRD grant for developing a State of Art Lab Facilities Mineral Separation Lab (Heavy Minerals) and EPMA National facility. Developed two courses (1) Climate Geology (M.Sc.) and (2) Tectonic and Mechanism of Mobile Belts (M.Tech.)
