Plates are reasonably priced with the salmorejo and bacalao being favourites. Drinks are not pricey either and the terrace is clean and cosy. The crowd you will find here love the high-quality yet simple tapas and the place is as far removed from tourist trap as you could find. Reservations essential!

El Gato is overlooking the Mediterranean, so the location is a 'see and be seen'. A quirky cavern of a restaurant, it is constantly buzzing with life. The waiting staff is always having a ball and of course, the tapas menu is extensive and well thought out with dishes like ceviche and Italian burrata (delicious young mozzarella injected with cream). This place is popular, with a high turnover of customers so if it's freshness you want at a very good price, come here. Very simply with this place: be damned sure to call ahead and book a table. It is always very busy.
A buzzing spot, open to the sea promenade, with dark, mould-dusted Iberian hams hanging from the wall, and a small bar piled high with artfully decorated pintxos that look like cakes in a fancy patisserie. In fact, they are created from fish, foie, mushrooms balanced on puff pastry and griddled bread, topped with decorative slithers of anchovies or guindillas (pickled chillis); and of course, they’re salty, designed to be drunk with a sharp, fresh Verdejo, the local wine.

The Tapas are very good and they were not the usual tapas but rather they were presented with a bit more flair and style ! The best were the Tomato and Anchovy salad, the Pate and the Gambas Pil Pil. Not very expensive and the service is quick and very friendly.
