Chapter 023 - 1999.10.14

  • This is the furthest date back -

    • I can find of a mention of my creation called:

      • TRI-WORDS.

  • On this date a hired a marketing person to evaluate this new game concept.

  • Maybe I had a prototype -

    • but probably only drawings.

  • The image above is of the actual retail game -

    • done years later -

      • after we licensed the concept to an educational game company.

  • The game has been off the market since after Q314 -

    • which means the third (3rd) quarter of 2014.

  • TRI-WORDS is a Scrabble like game -

    • where the challenge is to find highest scoring words or phrases.

  • But no game board &

    • three-sided letter tiles -

      • some tiles beginning any letter you choose,

        • like the Scrabble blank tile.

  • The design & packaging -

    • also created a secondary artwork challenge -

      • that you can see in part -

        • in the box below.

  • The simple challenge is to recreate the 3D steps effect.

  • The game can be played with multiple people -

    • or by oneself.

  • First, specify a number of tiles -

    • that each player will work with.

  • Then randomly pick tiles.

  • Then roll the die & flip the timer.

  • Everyone has the same time -

    • to do what the die provides as the challenge:

      • 1) create either one (1) or two (2) words

      • 2) specifies the high scoring color to use.

  • Any color letters can be used,

    • but you will get a highest score -

      • if you use all tiles in the specified color.

  • Here's a site that features much more info about TRI-WORDS.

  • I also created TRI-WORDS software -

    • that given a specific dictionary,

      • would identify the best play solution -

        • for the tiles drawn.

  • I also designed an Assistive Technology Device (ATD) with TRI-WORDS.

  • The TRI-WORDS ATD used -

    • both the analog tiles with barcode tech -

    • and the software.

  • It was intended to help people with learning disabilities.

  • It was picked to the USA Ed dept. to fulfill a RFP solicitation.

  • It went nowhere -

    • because I did not have an academic team backing the solution.
