Chapter 012 - 1990.05.11
My first solo incorporated business entity was done in New Hampshire.
This day -
is written on the stock certificates -
I received from the attorney's office.
I had to re-incorporate it -
when I moved to New Jersey.
Then again when we moved to Maine -
the return to my birth state.
My firm had the same name in all three (3) states:
New Hope Products Company, Inc.
I had owned or co-owned other businesses before.
As a kid,
still in high school,
I had a business,
with business cards,
that just featured my name.
I did small building, renovation and maintenance projects.
I still recall my friend's mother complaining to me -
when I handed her the first bill -
that I charged more than she made in her job -
$5 per hour.
When I was let go from the engineering position in NH in 1986 -
I first went back into the building industry alone,
but then formed an official partnership company -
with a school friend.
That company was called JSB Builders.
We built a whole house -
and did very large additions and renovations -
including a whole church sanctuary.
NHPC was first incorporated to bring to market -
a consumer product called:
The Paint Saver.
The product tooling was built and demo inventory produced.
But corporations did not want to deal with a one-product company.
No sales were ever made.
But NHPC stayed in business and pivoted to game development.
Then it did engineering consulting with Bells Labs and Lucent technologies.
NHPC continues today -
and still earns revenue on old game licenses.
